SPECIAL MEETING

JANUARY 22, 1996

 

Mayor Barbara O’Harris called the specialI council meeting to order Monday, January 22, 1996, at 11 a.m. The topic of the meeting was the Administrative Assistant’s Position.

 

PRESENT:

Mayor O’Harris, Aldermen Jeffrey, Riker, Watson, Earngey, Seratt and

RubIey.

 

ALSO PRESENT:

Don Matt, Jim Walden, Jay Miner and Clerk Lee.

Alderman Seratt made the motion to go into Executive Session. Alderman Watson seconded. Alderman Earngey pointed out that Alderman Seratt’s motion does not need a second, and that the Council can go right into executive session.

 

Executive session began at 11:10 a.m.

The Special Council Meeting reconvened at 12:50 p.m.

 

Mayor O’Harris announced her appointment, Mr. Don E. Young to the position of Administrative Assistant of Eureka Springs.

 

Alderman Seratt’s motion was that Mr. Young be hired at a starting salary of $36,000 annually.

Alderman Watson seconded.

Mr. Walden pointed out that Mr. Young would also receive $100 per month car allowance and he would be considered for an increase at mid-year, when other employees receive wage and salary increases.

 

Mr. Earngey made the motion to amend to include the $100 monthly car allowance and that Mr. Young would be considered for an increase at mid­year along with the other employees. Alderman Watson seconded.

 

The vote on the amendment to the motion was favorable, 6/0/0.

Alderman Seratt made the motion to adjourn. Alderman Watson seconded.

 

All were in favor, 6/0/0. The meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
