Mr. Tharp was disappointed that the Police Chief didn’t go for a ride in his carriage and let him show him the different places.

were in favor, 6/0/0.

NEW BUSINESS:
Property Insurance Bid:
The only bid for Property
Insurance Bids was from Bare and Swett.
The bid was in the amount of $23,169.
This year’s bid was quite a large amount over the one for last year. Mr. McClung told the City Clerk that it is
getting harder to find insurance companies that will write a policy for just
one aspect of municipal insurance. They
want to handle it all. Also, of course,
there was an additional cost because of the new police facility. That was $450,000 for the building, and
$100,000 for the property
inside the building. The $27,000 for the
generator was already a part of the bid package.
There was talk of going
over the insurance bid and making sure that everything was at the value it
should be.
The motion was made and seconded to approve. All were in
favor, 6/0/0.
The motion was made and seconded to approve not having a
meeting on December 17th, 2001. All were in favor, 6/0/0.
COUNCIL COMMENTS:
Alderman Harrison said
several of the downtown merchants asked if the parking at the meters could be
free for the rest of December. Since 10%
of the revenue of the City is parking, and since the City is cutting back in
the budget, several members said it was not a good idea. Alderman DeVito said that unfortunately, if
the City did that it would not be the visitors who would be parked
downtown. It would be shop owners, and
workers, which would defeat the whole purpose.
Alderman Harrison asked
why parking to the trolley depot is roped off.
People have always parked in there during the off season. It will be checked into.
Alderman Harrison said
there were several comments about the colored lights used this year. She said there was a strong aversion to
orange but the general comments were favorable.
Alderman DeVito brought up
having a tasteful sign at the top of Planer Hill letting people know that there
is a lovely Victorian City down Planer Hill.
He is constantly amazed at the number of people who drive through and
never realize there is a town! He would
like it to be on the agenda for January, 2002.
MAYOR’S COMMENTS:
Mayor Satori said his
sister is visiting, Her name is Kelly
Hansen and she talks a lot.
The motion was made and seconded to adjourn. All were in
favor, 6/0/0. The meeting was adjourned
at 7:38 p.m.
This is the signature
sheet for the minutes of December 3rd, 2001.
