CITY COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING                          FRIDAY                                    APRIL 20, 2007

            Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Harrison called the special meeting of the Eureka Springs City Council to order at 4 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, in the jury room on the second floor of the Western District Carroll County Courthouse.

 

PRESENT: Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Harrison, Aldermen Patrick Brammer, Charlotte Buchanan, Rae Hahn, Eric Scheunemann, City Attorney Tim Weaver. Mayor Dani D. Wilson, Alderman Joyce Zeller and City Clerk Mary Jean Sell were absent.

Mr. Scheunemann called the roll to establish a quorum.

 

            The purpose of the meeting: Taxi/limousine service concerning David White.

Ms. Hahn moved to open discussion. Ms. Buchanan seconded.

            There was approximately an hour and a half’s discussion about the recent issuance of three business licenses for limousine services, the purpose and authority of business licenses, the defining of limousine and taxi businesses in local, state and federal laws.

            (Amendment: The City Attorney advised the Council to adjourn and re-notify the public on the specifics of the moratorium and re-convene at a later time.)

            Ms. Hahn moved that there be a moratorium on the issuance of licenses until Ordinance 2051, regarding taxis, is addressed by the City Council. Ms. Buchanan seconded. Mr. Brammer asked for a roll call vote. Ms. Hahn, Ms. Buchanan, Mr. Scheunemann and Ms. Harrison voted aye. Mr. Brammer voted no. Motion passed 4/1/0

 

            Ms. Hahn moved to adjourn at 5:35 p.m. Mr. Brammer seconded. All voted aye. Motion passed 5/0/0
