CITY COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING                              FRIDAY                         MAY 2, 2008

            Mayor Dani Joy called the special meeting of the Eureka Springs City Council to order at 8:35 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, in the jury room on the second floor of the Western District Carroll County Courthouse.

 

PRESENT: Mayor Dani D. Joy, Aldermen Patrick Brammer, Rae Hahn, Kathy Harrison, Eric Scheunemann, Joyce Zeller, City Attorney Tim Weaver, Finance Director Yvonne Kline and City Clerk-Treasurer Mary Jean Sell CMC.

 

            The purpose of this meeting was to discuss proposed Ordinance 2081 to increase water rates.

 

            Mr. Brammer moved to discuss Ordinance 2081 to increase the water rates. Ms. Zeller seconded. All voted aye. Motion passed 5/0/0

            Public Works Office Administrator Amy Williams presented documentation with several rate scenarios as reflected with the water billing amounts for March 25 to April 25. After discussion of the possibilities, it was Ms. Williams’ recommendation to have a nine percent (9%) rate raise across the water use system.

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS:      

            Mickey Schneider offered several solutions to small business owners, particularly bed and breakfast owners, for raising their own rates to cover the increased water costs.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

            Ms. Hahn moved to adjourn the special meeting at 9:05 a.m. Mr. Scheunemann seconded. All voted aye. Motion passed 5/0/0
