Payments received by 3:30 p.m. each day are credited for that day. Anything received after 3:30 p.m. will be included with the next business day's transactions.
Water bills are due each month on the 15th. If you do not receive your water bill for some reason, call us. A 10% late penalty is assessed on all current unpaid balances after the 15th. Shut off notices are sent on the 15th. Bills not paid by approximately the 25th of the month are subject to shut-off.
Payments can be made at Public Works Office on Hwy 62E or drop off at the payment box on the south side of Carroll County Western District Courthouse. An after-hours dropbox is available at the Public Works Office for your convenience.
Automatic bank draft is available for your convenience on all water and sewer accounts. You may pick up an authorization form at the Water Department or download the form here. Complete the form and attach to it one deposit slip or a voided check. Bring the form and slip or check to the Water Department, or mail them to the above address, or drop them in the drop box. The Federal Reserve requires the first month be a "trial run" to validate the information. Therefore, your bill will be drafted the second billing cycle after submission. There will be a printed notification on the bottom of your bill stating "PAID BY DRAFT" for those months your payments are made by bank draft.
We now accept credit cards for monthly water payments. We accept VISA and Mastercard only. We cannot accept credit cards for tap fees or deposits.
For water & sewer emergencies after business hours, call the police department (253-8666). A public works employee is always on call and will respond as soon as possible to shut off water due to leaks, etc.
It is a violation of the Municipal Code for anyone other than a city employee to turn water on or off at the meter. Violations can result in a fine of up to $250.00.
